The question may be asked: Is any effort required for realizing the truth? The answer is yes. There is a work that one can do, which is as the work of a farmer, it is to cultivate the heart. But where man makes a mistake is that when he cultivates the heart he wishes to sow the seed himself instead of leaving the sowing of the seed to God. As to the way how to cultivate the heart, the first condition is explained in a story. A young man went to a great seer in Persia and asked him for guidance on the spiritual path. The seer asked him, 'Have you loved in your life?' 'No' he said, 'not yet.' The seer answered, 'Go and love, and know what love is. Then come to me.'

Diwali is called the 'Festival of Light' in India, but it is more appropriate to think of it as more like a New Year of Luck and Wealth Celebration. Diwali comes on the New Moon of the month of Kartika (usually in late October).
But that is just a surface explanation. Central to Indian philosophy is the idea that there is a deeper level of existence beyond the physical body and mind. That level is pure, infinite, wise and loving. It is called the ParamAtman. This ParamAtman is your true nature. It is the same true nature that is at the heart over every being. Thus, it is not YOUR true nature is THE true nature. All beings are joined in one-ness to the ParamAtman - The Supreme Self.
The only reason we suffer in life is because we mistake ourselves to be the denser forms of body, feeling and thought - forgetting our trues selves as eternal, loving spirit. This idea is at the heart of every spiritual tradition.
So, each year - at Diwali - we celebrate the birth of our physical being as an expression of the divine will. Diwali is the celebration of this Inner Light. It is the time to realize the inner effulgence that has the power to outshine all darkness within. It is the time to realize all of our external longings and accomplishments to merely be a path to the divine within, and re align our commitments with the highest truth of Self.

The South American republic of Ecuador will next week consider what many countries in the world would say is unthinkable. Before the last U.S. presidential election in 2004, *What Is
Enlightenment?* magazine posed the following query to five religious
leaders: "Many people argue that the upcoming presidential election is the
most important in our lifetime. Do you agree?"
Four of the respondents said, in effect, "Yes, because George Bush is bad
for America and the world."
But the fifth religious leader, Zen Buddhist Jan Chozen Roshi, replied, "I
don't know. Our existence is so short, it's like a dust mote in the eye of
God. To say that the time in which my dust mote existed was the most
important is a self-centered view."
Roshi's wisdom reminded me of an anecdote told by Henry Kissinger, an
American politician who was Secretary of State in the 1970s. Kissinger
once asked Chinese premier Zhou Enlai what he thought of the French
Revolution, which had happened two centuries earlier. "Too soon to tell,"
Chou answered.
I always like to keep these ideas in mind, even in times of relative peace
and calm. But I'm especially fond of focusing on the *very* big picture
when divine chaos is whirling around -- like now. It helps keep me humble,
and discourages me from any temptation I might have to believe I know
the Whole Truth about anything, let alone about the mysterious long-term
processes at work in the evolution of the human race.
There's another factor that makes me cautious about getting embroiled in
partisan politics and the narrow-minded hostility that fuels it. One of my
main goals in life is to love everyone with passionate intensity -- no
exceptions. Not just the people I find beautiful and helpful and interesting
and attractive. But also the people I don't like and the people who don't
like me and the people I disagree with and the people who can't or won't
do anything for me.
In order to become the gorgeous genius I aspire to be, in order to fulfill
the unique destiny I came to Earth to embody, I have to hold EVERYONE
in my heart with compassion and empathy. As I contemplate how every
single part of creation is interconnected, I've got to be aware that the
creatures I'm allergic to and inclined to feel alienated from are also part of
the great web of life.
That's my spiritual goal; it's essential to awakening my best self and
cultivating an intimate connection to Spirit. It's also my selfish goal; it's
critical to my physical and mental health. Hatred always sickens me. Love
always invigorates me.

when all beings meet.

The purpose of life is to become more living, to allow the soul to live more, and that is the limit given by Christ when he says, 'Raise your light high'. First of all, a friend of mine just sent me and I watched probably the
most impacting, educational online movie that explains and brings to light
the underlying principles of the US monetary system, how it is designed to
always run a deficit, purposefully, and used as a power tool completely.
This goes beyond Republican and Democrat, and the movie is an elevated next
step combination of "What the Bleep" "An Inconvenient Truth" and "Sicko",
but even then, after seeing this movie, I had a clear understanding of the
why and how behind the economic enslavement of the US population and the
world. It's a professional movie, shot with spiritual consciousness themes
that we've all resonated. It speaks to what we have all been looking for
here.

. . . it opens with Carl Sagan's voice and then Krishnamurti, and after
really educating what has been and is going on financially, it shows how a
new society, globally, not based on money, but sustainability,
contribution, and released technology shape a new world benefiting all.
Our world's energy needs could easily be 100% supported by geothermal,
solar, wave action, and wind, just for starters. As an example, wind
generators alone in just three states of the US, could supply the whole US
with its needs, without any energy sources needing to pollute the
environment.

This was the most important 2 hours of a movie I've seen. It's called
Zeitgeist: Addendum. (check out the first 3-4 minutes of the film, [also
the last five minutes] and you will thank me, as you watch on, and learn
what we've always wanted to understand...)

Opinion is an outcome of mind. It is an outburst of its reasoning and judging faculty. And so, according to the evolution of a particular mind, its opinion is. Opinions clash when two people of different stages of evolution express themselves. Therefore the wise are more reluctant to express their opinion, whereas for the unwise it is easy. A simpleton is only too glad to express his opinion uninvited.
Everyone, consciously or unconsciously, is striving after spiritual attainment. Sometimes he does not take the same way as we do, sometimes his point of view and his method differ, and sometimes one person attains to spiritual realization much sooner than another. It may be reached in a day, and another person may have striven for it all his life and yet not have attained to it. What determines it? It is the evolution of a particular soul.

Currently in the sky we have what's called a Kala Sarpa Yoga in
Vedic Astrology. Kala Sarpa means "The Serpent of Time". All of the
planets are in between the Nodes of Rahu and Ketu. When this
happens there is a lot of karma being activated. Since time is
always cyclical, from the past into the future, there is a mixture
of both playing out at any time. Yet, we would look at the
direction of the node to see which end of the engine is driving the
karmic cycle more -- the completion of karma or the activation of a
new cycle.

Since the nodes move backwards, I am of the feeling that it is the
Rahu end of the node, the North node, that is driving the engine of
karma right now. This means there is a new activation of karmic
energy coming into the earth plane. Of course, the reason we have
new cycles is to get rid of the old. Let's examine this a little
further.

In the most reliable US chart I have seen, there is a Sagittarius
rising sign - using the sidereal zodiac. This places Rahu in the
second house by transit (Sidereal Zodiac) -- the House of wealth and
economics. The second house is also related to security, values and
our value systems. It is these value systems that give us stability
in life and are ultimately our most valuable resource - both
individually and culturally. This second house is opposite the
eighth house of insecurity, chaos and the things we cannot control.
The eighth house represents the dramatic upheavals that force us to
clarify and stabilize our value systems.

Here Comes Halley's Comet Dust and Its Shower

Each year as a result of Earth passing through dust released by Halley's Comet we
experience the Orionid meteor shower. This is the second of two showers that occur
each year. First the Eta Aquarids, then come the Orionids. The Orionids generally
begin on October 15th and end on October 29th.

The maximum generally occurring during the morning hours of October 20th to 22nd.
The Orionids are barely detectable on the beginning and ending dates, but observers
in the Northern Hemisphere will see around 20 meteors per hour at maximum, while
observers in the Southern Hemisphere will see around 40 meteors per hour. The maximum
can last two or three nights, although there is evidence of some fluctuation from
year to year.

Avaaz has no formal affiliation with VoteforEnvironment, it's just a great
tool for us to consider our options as voters. The site works from the
latest polling to show that *if we all voted strategically, the outcome
would decimate the Conseratives in Parliament, cutting their number of seats
in half, the NDP would rise to 50 seats (its highest number in history), the
Liberals would replace the Conservatives as a minority government (or as
part of a coalition with other opposition parties), and the Green Party
would finally get into Parliament.*

Strategic voting means we might not get to express our first choice where we
live, but we do get to better express our choices as a country, and we get a
Parliament that looks more like the Canadian people. *Almost 70% of
Canadians don't want a Harper majority government, but our votes are split
among 4 opposition parties,* potentially giving Harper most of the seats in
Parliament! In most of the ridings, the races aren't close and we can vote
for whomever we want. But in the close races, strategic voting will decide
this election.

Stephen Harper's government has been voted worst in the world by
international climate experts after Harper blocked UN climate negotiations,
produced a fraudulent, do-nothing climate plan at home, deceived Canadians
about the responsible climate plans pushed by other parties -- and all this
has been just as a minority government! Any Canadian who cares about the
environment and the planet needs to visit VoteforEnvironment.ca before
Tuesday, and carefully consider the consequences of their vote, for Canada,
and for the planet. *VoteforEnvironment is just a tool, a useful piece of
advice for any voter, to take or leave. Let's try to make sure every
Canadian has that advice by Tuesday.*

We must learn to see the beauty, it is not everyone who sees it, often the critical spirit is occupied in gazing at the object which lacks beauty, the more you look for beauty, the more you see it as a whole. It is seeing the vision in part that deludes, you look at the side of a man's nature that may not be attractive, but if you will seek for good in everything, you will always find it, for God is in all things, and still more He/SHE is in all beings.

Currently there is a Jupiter/Saturn trine in the sky. Maybe you heard about this relationship of Jupiter and Saturn earlier in the year, and how it would play out at different points as the year progressed.
Both Jupiter and Saturn are planets of long-term destiny. Jupiter gives optimism and hope, Saturn gives determined effort towards our goals. Both of these things need to be working in harmony with each other if we are to have long-term success. Saturn gives us the determination and Jupiter gives us the hope to overcome those obstacles and also the uplifting and inspired vision.Between now and early November Jupiter and Saturn will be in this trinal arrangement. Any and all endeavors that you can start or prepare for now will be blessed events.
If you have been working hard toward certain long-term goals this year, as I have been encouraging at different times, you may find this period to be especially fruitful. It may be the culmination of many smaller tasks that you had planned in advance.
It is interesting that our elections in the United States will take place during this Jupiter/Saturn trine. Obama definitely represents Jupiter and Saturn by McCain. We shall see how they dance the cosmic dance ...

Man likes complexity. He does not want to take only one step; it is more interesting to look forward to millions of steps. The man who is seeking the truth gets into a maze, and that maze interests him. He wants to go through it a thousand times more. It is just like children. Their whole interest is in running about; they do not want to see the door and go in until they are very tired. So it is with adults. They all say that they are seeking truth, but they like the maze. That is why the mystics made the greatest truths a mystery, to be given only to the few who were ready for them, letting the others play because it was the time for them to play.

Truth is simple. But for the very reason that it is simple, people will not take it; because our life on earth is such that for everything we value, we have to pay a great price and one wonders, if truth is the most precious of all things, then how can truth be attained simply? It is this illusion that makes everyone deny simple truth and seek for complexity. Tell people about something that makes their heads whirl round and round and round. Even if they do not understand it, they are most pleased to think, 'It is something substantial. It is something solid. For, it is an idea we cannot understand, it must be something lofty.' But something which every soul knows, proving what is divine in every soul, and which it cannot help but know, that appears to be too cheap, for the soul already knows it. There are two things: knowing and being. It is easy to know truth, but most difficult to be truth. It is not in knowing truth that life's purpose is accomplished; life's purpose is accomplished in being truth.
