Awakening--

"Most initial methods of awakening are simply ways of returning awareness to itself, and then the expression is love."

- Loch Kelly

ponderance~

It is essential to have Knowledge; it is also essential to escape the Known.

- J. Krishnamurti

Evolution --

According to his evolution, man knows the truth; and the more he knows, the more he finds there is to know.

Bowl of Saki, by Hazrat Inayat Khan

ponderance~

What is it then in man which says 'I' and identifies itself with what it sees? It is not our head or foot which says 'I' nor is it in the brain. It is something that we cannot point out which identifies itself with all these different parts and says 'I' and mine and knows itself to be the person who sees. This in itself is ignorance, and it is this which the Hindus have called avidya. How can you be that which you possess? You cannot be the horse and rider at the same time. Herein lies the secret of mortality and immortality; it is the mortal being that, through illusion, claims immortality. It is more important to find out the truth about oneself than to find out the truth about heaven and hell, or about many other things which are of less importance and are apart from oneself. However, every man's pursuit is according to his state of evolution, and so each soul is in pursuit of something but he does not know where it leads him. The first sign of realization is tolerance towards others.

love--

" Love after Love" by Derek Wallcott

The time will come when, with elation, you will greet yourself
arriving at your own door, in your own mirror, and each will
smile at the other's welcome, and say, sit here. Eat. You will
love again the stranger who was your self. Give wine. Give
bread. Give back your heart to itself, whom you ignored for
another, who knows you by heart. Take down the love letters
from the bookshelf, the photographs, the desperate notes, peel
your own image from the mirror. Sit. Feast on your life.

ponderance~

It is eternity now; I am in the midst of it. It is about me in the sunshine; I
am in it, as the butterfly in the light-laden air. Nothing has to come; it is
now. Now is eternity; now is immortal life.

- Richard Jefferies

ponderance~

"Fear can keep us up all night long, but faith makes one fine pillow." - Unknown

Kabir -

I have found something,
Something rare i have found;
Its value none can assess.
It has no colour, it is One,
Indivisible and everlasting -
Untouched by the waves of change,
It fills each and every vessel.
I dwell in it, it dwells in me,
We are One, like water mixed with water.

-kabir

Truth --

The Truth of Who You Are:
Experiences of truth have been given different names by different spiritual cultures. Heaven, nirvana, resurrection, enlightenment, satori, samadhi — all are names pointing to this supreme, un-nameable, divine beauty, empty of suffering and filled with grace. In any moment, in a split second, there is the possibility of recognizing the boundless, limitless, eternal truth of yourself. Opening to the truth of our own essential being is simply a matter of receiving; but, because of our conditioning, this doesn’t seem like a simple matter. We are conditioned to fear the unknown depths of ourselves, suspecting the worst.
Yet, when we are finally willing to face head-on the suspected worst in ourselves, we discover an amazing, unbelievable truth: Opening the mind to what has previously been feared and avoided reveals the capacity to bear and truly embrace discomfort, even pain. And eventually, we discover that whatever we fully embrace reveals the peace that we were seeking through all of our attempts to avoid discomfort. To open your mind to the silence that is the source of your mind is to open to your true self. Conscious silence is already open. You are already open. Allow your mind to stop gathering information, to stop imagining the future, to stop strategizing for survival. Let your mind simply be held by its source. Recognize that the capacity to open to the truth of your being is always here. You are truth already. You are consciousness. Consciousness is spirit. Recognize yourself, and you will see yourself everywhere — in every other human being, in every animal, in every plant, in every rock. Until you recognize yourself, you are still figuring out how to find yourself, how to get more of yourself, how to know what is and is not yourself. Truth is already here, regardless of the state of your body, your emotions, your mind, or your circumstances. Stop and see.

~ From The Diamond in Your Pocket by Gangaji.

Vaastu --

This science is complete in itself.
Happiness to the whole world it can bring
All the four benefits it bestows on you
Rightful living, money, fulfillment of desires and bliss
Are all available in this world itself
~ Viswakarma in Vaastushastra

Vaastu Shastra is the ancient Indian science of architecture, which governs town planning and designing of man-made structures. A part of the Vedas, the word 'Vaastu' in Sanskrit means 'dwelling', and in the modern context it covers all buildings. Vaastu pertains to the physical, psychological and spiritual order of the built environment, in consonance with the cosmic energies. It is a study of planetary influences on buildings and the people who live in them, and aims at providing guidelines for proper construction.
Hindus believe that for peace, happiness, health and wealth one should abide by the guidelines of Vaastu while building a dwelling. It tells us how to avoid diseases, depression and disasters by living in structures, which allow the presence of a positive cosmic field. Since Vedic wisdom is considered to be synonymous with divine knowledge of the cosmic mind obtained by sages in deep states of meditation, Vaastu Shastra or the science of Vaastu is thought to contain the guidelines given by the Supreme Being. Delving into history, we find that Vaastu developed during the period of 6000 BC and 3000 BC (Ferguson, Havell and Cunningham) and was handed over by ancient architects through word of mouth or hand-written monographs.
The principles of Vaastu had been explained in ancient Hindu scriptures like Skanda Purana, Agni Purana, Garuda Purana, Vishnu Purana, Bruhatsamhita, Kasyapa Shilpa, Agama Sastra and Viswakarma Vaastushastra.
The fundamental premise of Vaastu rests on the assumption that the earth is a living organism, out of which other living creatures and organic forms emerge, and so every particle on earth and space possesses 'live energy'. According to Vaastushastra five elements - Earth, Fire, Water, Air or atmosphere and Sky or space - govern the principles of creation. These forces act for or against each other to create harmony and disharmony. It also says that everything on earth - in some form or other - is influenced by the nine planets, and each of these planets guards a direction. So our dwellings are under the influence of the five elements and the nine planets.

Gratitude --

The common meaning of gratitude is to be thankful for benefits received. While this is important, I feel that the energy of gratitude is one of the most powerful attracting forces in the universe. A heart filled with Thanksgiving, even when appearances tell us that we are mired in scarcity, conflict, and affliction, moves us to a higher frequency in consciousness -- and we soon witness reality shining through the illusion.
- John Randolph Price

ponderance~

Let a man strive to purify his thoughts. What a man thinketh, that is he; this is the eternal mystery. Dwelling within himself with thoughts serene, he will obtain imperishable happiness.
- Upanishads

Selfishness -

Selfishness seems to be so much on the increase. Real religion, the spirit of forgiveness, generous giving, regard for old age, refinement, culture -- all seem to be disappearing. Man in general, does not know even if there is a God or Truth. If this is the spirit, how can we expect to find that harmony, peace and love, which make heaven on earth?
It is useless to discuss the peace of the world. What is necessary just now is to create peace in ourselves that we, ourselves, become examples of love, harmony and peace. That is the only way of saving the world and ourselves.

Beyond name and form --

A man filled with earthly knowledge and what he calls learning, is often only the knowledge of names and forms and has no capacity for the knowledge of truth or God. It is the innocent and pure soul who has a capacity for learning. When a person comes to take a lesson on any subject, and he brings his own knowledge with him, the teacher has little to teach him, for the doors of his heart are not open. His heart that should be empty in order to receive knowledge is occupied by the knowledge that he already had acquired. Intellect is the knowledge of names and forms, their character and nature, gathered from the external world. It shows in an infant from birth, when he begins to be curious about all he sees; then, by storing in his mind the various forms and figures he sees he recognizes them as an addition to his knowledge of variety. Man thus gathers the knowledge of numberless forms of the whole world in his mind and holds them... and calls that 'learning'. This becomes his world, although it neither gives him a sense of unchanging comfort, nor does he thereby gain an everlasting peace. Wisdom is contrary to the above-named knowledge. It is the knowledge which is illumined by the light within; it comes with the maturity of the soul, and opens up the sight to the similarity of all things and beings, as well as the unity in names and forms. The wise man penetrates the spirit of all things; he sees the human in the male and female, and the racial origin which unites nations. He sees the human in all people and the divine immanence in all things in the universe, until the vision of the whole being becomes to him the vision of the One Alone, the most beautiful and beloved God.

prayer --

O Divine Mother
May All my speech and idle talk be mantra
All actions of my hands be mudra
May all eating and drinking be the offering of oblations unto Thee
All laying down prostrations before Thee
May all pleasures be as dedicating my entire self unto Thee
May everything I do be taken as Thy worship

Choices --

Be miserable. Or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, it's always your choice.

-Wayne Dyer

Home --

The earth supplies all the things that mans nature demands except one, and that is his source; and therefore man remains dissatisfied all through life in spite of everything that he may obtain in answer to his desires: pleasure, comfort, rank, or wealth. He may obtain them all, but still the longing of his soul will remain because it is for home. Home is the source, which the wise have called God. ... The innermost being of man is that which may be called the source itself, and the outer being of man is what we call MAN.

Harmony --

The wise in all ages have dived deep into life in order to attain unity in themselves, and in order to spread unity. In the life of the world every man has some complaint to make. He lacks something; he is troubled by something. But this is only the external reason; the real truth is that he is not in unity with his own soul, for when there is disharmony in ourselves how can we spread harmony? When mind and body are at war the soul wants something else, and soul and mind are pulled by the body, or the body and mind by the soul; and so there is disharmony. When a man is in harmony with himself, he is in harmony with all; he produces harmony and gives harmony to all, he gives it out all the time.

enlightened relationships -

The esteemed teacher, J. Krishnamurti, who strongly influenced my early years as a seeker, said that all of life is relationship.

An enlightened relationship is one that is free of conflict and suffering, harmonious, flowing, and based in truth, what is happening in this very moment now. You create enlightened relationships as you become more awake and free within yourself.
What is freedom? It is to be free of all self-images and self-concepts, and to know yourself as pure consciousness, expressing through this body, mind, and personality called “you.” Then you can be with anyone—your lover or spouse, the closest relative, or a total stranger—without feeling any anxiety or fear. You are simply present with them, connecting with them in a warm, open, welcoming, and loving way.

ponderance~

Ambition is like love, impatient both of delays and rivals.

-the Buddha

ponderance~

" The moment you have in your heart this extraordinary thing
called love and feel the depth, the delight, the ecstasy of it,
you will discover that for you the world is transformed. The
best of all loves is AGAPE, a selfless love for all your brothers
and sisters on the journey. "

Planetary transits for 2010

http://virtualastrologyconference.com/2010transits.pdf

The purpose of Life --

God and man are like the two ends of one line. When a believer in God conceives of God as a separate entity and of man as a being separate from Him, he makes himself an exile, an exile from the kingdom of God. He holds fast to the form of God created by himself, and he does not reach the Spirit of God. However good and virtuous he has been in life, however religious in his actions, he has not fulfilled the purpose of his life. ...
Those who think that God is not outside but only within are as wrong as those who believe that God is not within but only outside. In fact God is both inside and outside, but it is very necessary to begin by believing in that God outside. From our childhood we have learned everything outside. We learn what the eye is by looking at the eyes of others; everything we see in ourselves we have always learned from outside.
So even in order to learn to see God we must begin by seeing God outside: as the Creator, the Judge, the Knower of all things, the forgiver; and when we have understood Him better, the next step is that the God that we have always seen outside we now also find within, and that completes our worship. If we have only found Him outside then we are His worshippers, but we remain separate from him and there is no communion, which is the purpose of life.

ponderance~

When man is separated from God in his thought, his belief is of no use, his worship is of little use.

Bowl of Saki, by Hazrat Inayat Khan

ponderance~

The soul is the Spirit of God, and the Spirit of God lives within the shrine of the heart; this shrine can be closed or it can be open. There are some things in life that open it and some that close it. The things that close the heart are those which are contrary to love, tolerance and forgiveness, such as coldness, bitterness and ill-will, and a strong element of duality. The world is more upset today than ever before; in many ways man seems to go from bad to worse, and yet he thinks that he is progressing. It is not lack of organization or of civilization; both these things he has. What he lacks is the expression of the soul. He closes his door to his fellow man, he closes the shrine of the heart and by doing so he is keeping God away from himself and others. Nation is set against nation, race against race, religion against religion. Therefore today more than ever before there is a need for the realization of this philosophy. What we need is not that all religions should become one nor all races; that can never be. But what is needed is undivided progress, and making ourselves examples of love and tolerance.

ponderance~

The ever present mystery
Calling us into relationship
Calling us to live in truth
Without pretense
Calling us to be naked
To be who we are
Our unique path
To wholeness

Prayer -

There are three kinds of people among those who offer prayer. One person in praying feels he is fulfilling a certain duty, which he considers to be one among the other duties of life. ... The second kind of person who offers prayers is the one who prays because he has been taught to do so, and yet is uncertain as to whether there is any God and whether his prayers are really heard. ... Then there is a third person who has imagination which is strengthened by faith. He not only prays to God, but he prays before God, in the presence of God. Once imagination has helped a man to bring the presence of God before him, God is awakened in his own heart.

RAHU/KETU changing signs --

Unlike the other planets, Rahu and Ketu travel in a counterclockwise direction over the natal charts spending around 1-2 years in each of the signs. This year, they are changing signs or making a transit commencing on November 17, 2009. Rahu is shifting from Capricorn into Sagittarius, while Ketu is moving from Cancer into Gemini where they will remain for the next 18 months.

Major transits like these can give us interesting insights about our future. We take this occasion to examine this upcoming transit with respect to individual Vedic rising signs (also called Ascendants or Lagna) or Moon signs. Please note that the results can range from aggravation to atonement depending on the individual's chart and predictions from your expert astrologers.

Rahu and Ketu can bring positive or negative effects on your life, and this is completely dependent upon their positions in your birth chart! As mentioned, Rahu and Ketu are unique in the sense that they always appear in the chart in a retrograde direction. Both of them contain key clues about your karma from previous lives as well as important issues for you to work on in this one.

Astronomically, Rahu and Ketu are the mysterious unseen points in space causing the eclipses. While they are not technically planets, their influence is so significant that they were given the status of planets by the ancient sages as they can seize hold of our consciousness. In Vedic legend, Rahu and Ketu are each part of a snake that was cut in two. For most of us, no single planet is 100% malefic or 100% beneficial. The effect of this upcoming transit depends on how we respond to both favorable and unfavorable situations as there is always a free will.

Rahu has a positive side and can offer great boons in communication, innovative ideas, new inventions and improved technology. Ketu is sometimes called the saintly planet as Ketu can help push us to be motivated for spiritual liberation. Rahu can help make us extroverted, affirming and ambitious, while Ketu's influence can push us to be more introverted or detached. However, both Rahu and Ketu can have a poisonous side as well and their malefic energies are dreaded as Rahu can trigger out of control behaviors such as addiction, and Ketu can make material comforts evaporate.

Rahu's transits show where someone is likely to expand, become driven, try new things and disperse their energy into materialistic pursuits. Wherever Rahu is in your birth chart is an area you may have avoided in your recent past lives, and it is an area you may have to work on this lifetime. Ketu's transits shows where someone is likely to experience restriction, detachment, completion or focus and deepen their spiritual pursuits. Wherever Ketu is in your birth chart may be a place you have felt more comfortable in past lives and may be where you naturally wish to focus again now. However, you must first deal with the lessons of Rahu before the fruits of Ketu can open.

In general, if either Rahu or Ketu are your current major or minor planetary influences, and you see the predictions below could be difficult for you, we recommend a home remedy of lighting lemon lamps during Rahu periods or anytime on Sundays, Tuesdays or Fridays. You can reduce the malefic effects of any prediction by performing targeted remedies such as homas, poojas or proxy mantra writing. You can also augment benefic effects of any prediction through remedies. A transit period is an excellent time for everyone to send these planetary beings some love and respect!

Quote of the Moment:

To become free, your attention must be drawn to the I am, the witness. Of course, the knower and the known are one, not two, but to break the spell of the known the knower must be brought to the forefront. Neither is primary, both are reflections in memory of the ineffable experience, ever new and ever now, unstranslatable, quicker than the mind.

~ by Nisargadatta Maharaj

communicate with the planets --

From the moment you wake up in the morning until you go to sleep at night, you are ruled by the planets and the stars.
-Dattatreya Siva Baba
The planets are real. They are living beings and each brings a different energy to the earth plane every day and every hour of every day. If you knew how to communicate with planets, you could turn them in your favor and dramatically improve the outcome of your activities.

Baba--

Glimmers of inspiration
overtaken by wallops of bliss.
I could save the world
if I wasn’t so intoxicated
with this soul-quenching elixir
that sweeps away all ambitions.

When we receive
the blessing of
the Sat Guru, who
is the river of grace,
we can accomplish
all things.

I am nothing,
God does everything.
Remember this always.
This is the door to freedom.

Astrology -

Astrological 'houses' are twelve sectors of the sky which 'house' different areas of your life. Firstly, there's 'your outward appearance', secondly, your financial potential. The third house covers your manoeuverability, the fourth rules domesticity, the fifth, 'speculation'. Duty is covered by the sixth house, while 'big relationships' belong to the seventh. The eighth is 'what you take most seriously', the ninth describes your beliefs, the tenth, your 'power', the eleventh, your social sphere, and the twelfth, your dreams and 'escapes'.

Full Moon reflections--

"Eternity"
by William Blake

He who binds to himself a joy
Does the winged life destroy
But he who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in eternity's sun rise

Living in the moment --

To live in the moment's a well-worn routine
that most of the word has perfected;
for some, it's the moment that's already been,
for others, - the one that's expected.

Yet no sort of magic can kindle anew
a past that is over for ever,
nor summon the future before it is due:
our moment is now - or it's never.

So brief is the moment in which we may live,
and future or past it isn't.
Whoever would know of what life has to give
must gratefully welcome the present.

-Peter Spinks

SHIVA --

Lord Shiva, the Omnipresent -

Shiva is 'Shakti' or power; Shiva is the destroyer, the most powerful of the 3 Godheads of the Hindu Trinity. In temples, Shiva's shrines usually contain a 'lingam', a phallic symbol which represents the energies necessary for life on both the microcosmic and the macrocosmic levels; that is, the world in which we live and the world which constitutes the whole of the universe. The 'lingam' is placed in the center underneath the spire, where it symbolizes the navel of the earth.
Performing Abhishekams to Lord Shiva will help erase your past bad karmas from your karmic sheet. Lord Shiva is said to be very fond of Abhishekams. Abhishekam is the process of bathing the deity. There is a lot of importance attached to abishekam in poojas. It makes the ceremonies many times more effective. A priest may perform an abishekam by simply using holy water or perform elaborately with elements such milk, curds, honey, ghee, sugar, coconut water, holy ash, sandal paste and fruit juice, to overcome your every day problems. Especially effective on the FULL MOON! There are SHIVA temples everywhere --
